LUIGIA ZILLI AND “BLOOD. SWEAT. TEARS.”
Luigia Zilli's passion for cycling dates back to her childhood having grown up in a family of cyclists. An artist for three decades, she has been painting cycling scenes for over a decade since making Canada her home and missing the sport and those days riding her bicycle. “Blood. Sweat. Tears" is an artwork from an existent image commissioned by Team Revolution. I tried to interpret the meaning of this image immersing myself in the effort and the work they are doing for the Humber River Regional Hospital. Cycling is one of the best teachers of life. It is like life itself. It is where achieving something and having success comes with a physical cost. It’s a difficult and rough road to reach the finish line. Along the way things may happen: we fall, we struggle, we let emotions surface... we fight! We focus on that finish line and we keep chasing our goals, we get through it and achieve success. Such is this mission with Team Revolution for the Humber River Regional Hospital. I chose to paint “Blood. Sweat. Tears.” on a rough surface as if it was painted on one of the Hospital’s walls, as a reminder for everybody who walks by of what it takes to succeed.” (Luigia Zilli) |
